Marc Jacobs’ ’70s vibe

WHAT IS IT about the ’70s that works up many of today’s fashion designers?
Among them is Marc Jacobs. His Spring-Summer Collection shown last week at Greenbelt 4 was heavily influenced by the ’70s. Jacobs produced slouchy and strapless jumpsuits, belted and tailored ensembles, soft dresses and abbreviated separates—halters, hot pants and baby-doll dress with detachable sleeves.

The collection also had an east-meets-bohemian vibe as seen in wraparound dress with quilted and extended shoulders, several resort wear that paid homage to Missoni’s zigzag knits and Yves Saint Laurent’s peasant dresses. Continue reading
